All services offered at a glance

The Campus Library collection includes 100,000 monographs as well as numerous magazines in printed and electronic form. Approximately 150 workstations and a comfortable reading area are provided in our Wifi-equipped library. In the entrance hall a xerox machine allows users to make copies and scans to pdf.

Lending of books

After registration, students, staff, and professors of Saarland University as well as affiliated institutes are entitled to borrow materials. The loan period is four weeks. To register, you need a valid UdS card.
An extension of the loan period is possible starting five days before the due date and can be requested online via your library account, by phone, by email, or in person. Extensions are permitted for up to a total duration of twelve months, provided no reservation has been made by another user.
After the second reminder, it is no longer possible to extend the loan via your online account. In this case, please contact the library team.
Borrowed materials can be returned at the circulation desk during opening hours, or conveniently placed in the book return box located to the right of the entrance when the library is closed.

Reservation of library items

You have the possibility to place a hold request on a library item. You will be informed when the item is returned and it will be reserved for you for 3 days. Please sign in your library account or contact the library team: Get email address via email

Textbook collection

The textbook collection contains important and basic literature with multiple copies for your studies. The books are marked with a green dot and located behind the course reading shelf.

Library Information

General information regarding the library resources as well as assistance with literature requests is provided by our specialized library staff, personally, via email or by calling +49 681/302-70602 or +49 681/9325-5740.
We will gladly give you a guided tour though our library and an overview of our resources (databases, electronic journals eg). Specific courses in WoS, PubMed, Vlib are being offered, for appointments please contact us at: Get email address via email

Document delivery service

If a book you need is not in our library collection, you can order a book via interlibrary loan or suggest to buy it. If a paper/article is not available, please write us an email with all bibliographic information you have and we will try to get it for you as soon as possible.

Literature for lectures

We consistently provide an updated overview of literature relevant to lectures as well as the links for the corresponding events. Literature is acquired in multiple numbers. A reference copy is available at all times in the library. It is situated separately in a course reserve collection. Associate Professors may mail their list or revised list for literature at any time.
